Cinnamon toast popcorn is one of my go-to snacks. Not only does it taste like my favorite cereal, it provides some fiber has a bit more volume than a single serving of cereal. If you haven’t read my post on why food volume matters, you should go there next!
Get an Air Popper
I make my popcorn using an air popper for a couple of reasons:
- The popcorn pops more evenly without burning (which is one of the most offensive smells in the world, right? Burnt popcorn)
- No Oil Required! The most important reason. It’s just the corn, no extra fat, so you can decide what your snack is made with.
- I also prefer the way the kernels pop big and fluffy compared to stove top in oil
If you decide you don’t want to invest the $20 for a popper, I get it. You can pop the corn stovetop or use microwave popcorn for this recipe as well, you just have to consider the additional fat those options will add.
For a lot of seasonings, I like to use a cheap coffee grinder or mini food processor to pulse the spices together. It breaks them down into a finer powder so that you get better coverage for things like this. This, however is entirely unnecessary and over the top. It was just an amazing discovery I happened upon and it deepened my love affair with Cinnamon Toast Popcorn to an obscene level. Don’t judge until you’ve tried it.
